As we study the ministry activities of Jesus, we discover He practiced casting out demons as a normal function of ministry. He later commissioned His disciples and then the entire Church to do the same. The casting out of demons was never intended to be for only those in occupational ministry. It was for every believer. If casting out demons demonstrates the reality of the kingdom of God being established in power, then why do we not see this being practiced throughout the Church in our society? Could it be that we really don't believe that we have that power? Or is it because we do not understand the authority that the follower of Jesus has over Satan and his demons?
I am convinced that the Church today demonstrates a great apathy concerning our ability to carry on the work of Jesus in the earth. We seem to be more focused on building larger ministries and larger congregations than actually doing the works that Jesus did and advancing His kingdom. The professional occupational ministers seems to be more concerned with maintaining and entertaining the children of God rather than equipping and training them to do the works of ministry that Jesus did. We are more concerned about having a “good” meeting than being a “co-laborer” with Jesus and destroying the works of darkness. Shame on us.

During his tenure on the ministerial staff he expanded the youth ministry, oversaw the construction of the building for the elderly and developed the small group ministry.
